The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC), has concluded
an anti- corruption sensitisation programme in the six geo-political
zones of the country.
The Acting Director General of NAFDAC, Mrs Yutunde Oni said that the workshop was to sensitise staff of the agency against corruption and other related issues in the workplace.
Mrs Oni, who spoke on anti-corruption, Servicom and gender at the last series of the workshop in Port Harcourt, said that another round of workshop that will incorporate junior and middle cadre staff in the zones will also commence.
According to her, over the years, ministries, departments and agencies (MDAs) have been battling with the debilitating effect of corruption.
“NAFDAC is in tune with the anti-corruption crusade of the Federal Government and the agency Anti-corruption and Transparently Unit (ACTU) as a bulwark against corruption was created in 2013 to sensitise staff on zero tolerance to corruption and the agency’s code of conduct especially regulatory officers on the field who are most vulnerable”.
“The management of NAFDAC is supportive of the ACTU in all its programme to properly educate staff on the ills of corruption and also in its bid to investigate any corrupt practice reported to the unit by stakeholders/clients or fellow staff of the agency.
Also speaking, the chairman of Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), represented by the Head of Corruption Monitoring and Evaluation Department, Barrister Nkeem Lawal, commended NAFDAC for establishing the ACTU unit, noting that it shows the willingness of NAFDAC to support the body in the fight against corruption.
According to him, the workshop is geared towards changing staff attitude and maintain high level of morality.
