Ford Forced to Abandon Export of 500 Vehicles to Nigeria

American auto maker, Ford, has stopped a planned exportation of 500 vehicles to Nigeria, forced by the ongoing unfavorable business climate in the country.

Reports say the export of the over 500 vehicles, which were assembled in South Africa, was abandoned because Coscharis, Ford's partner in Nigeria couldn't accommodate them due to the economic condition.

The General Manager, Marketing and Corporate Services, Coscharis Group, Mr. Abiona Babarinde, attributed the development to “forex-related issues.”

He said the vehicles were “to be imported as SKD (semi-knocked down) kits for (auto) assembly but got stuck in South Africa because of slow sale of what we already have in stock in Nigeria.”

Ford however promised to continue to deliver quality vehicles and improved auto service to its customers in Nigeria no matter the economic condition.
