President Kenyatta leads polls according to IPSOS Synovate research

     
President Uhuru Kenyatta leads his main rival in August 8th poll Raila Odinga by 4 percentage points in the latest opinion poll released on Sunday.

The poll conducted by IPSOS Synovate indicates that President Uhuru Kenyatta would win the election if Kenyans were to go to the polls today.
The polls however indicate that the NASA’s flag bearer Raila Odinga is closing in and would need a huge voter turnout same as enjoyed by Jubilee in 2013 to make any significant impact.
In the research carried out between July 3rd and 12th, President Uhuru Kenyatta would still beat his main challenger Raila Odinga.
Of the 2009 respondents polled,  47% would support president Uhuru Kenyatta  while NASA’s Raila Odinga would garner  43%. 5% of the respondents are however still undecided while 1% of those polled will not vote.
When posed with the question, are things in Kenya generally going in the right or wrong direction?
48% of Jubilee supporters feel the country is headed to the right direction while 38% of feel they are not. 87% of NASA supporters polled fell the country is headed to the wrong direction while 7 % feel is it headed to the right direction.
Central Kenya and North Eastern majorly feel the country is headed to the right direction while.
38% of those in the Rift Valley feel the country is headed to the right direction while less that 25% of those polled in Nairobi, Western, Eastern ,Coast  and Nyanza  are of a similar feeling.
The Presidents performance in the past 3 months was approved by 85% of those in support of Jubilee but 12 % felt otherwise while 74 % of NASA supporters do not see any meaningful change.
The Jubilee party still commands more support in Central ,Rift Valley, North Eastern while Eastern Nairobi, coast, Western and Nyanza gravitate more to the NASA coalition.
92 % of Jubilee supporters polled were certain to vote in August while 89% of respondents in support of NASA were sure of casting their vote.
