Mark Wahlberg named highest paid actor for 2017, find out who else is on the list

Mark Wahlberg has be named the world’s highest paid actor for 2017 after banking $68 million pretax according to Forbes.


The former rapper now actor topped the list The World's Highest-Paid Actors 2017 after earning big for movie franchise Transformers: The Last Knight and the upcoming film Daddy’s Home 2. Wahlberg who did not feature in the top 10 of the list last year knocked off Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson who held first position last year.

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who made No. 2 on the list collected $65 million dollars for the Baywatch reboot and forthcoming film Jumanji which will be release in December 2017. He is role on HBO show Ballers as executive producer and lead actor ensures that he stays solid at the bank although Baywatch did not impress at the box office.

Vin Diesel, Johnson’s Fast and the Furious co star, saw his earnings jump up 55% due to his roles in movie franchises xXx: The Return of Xander Cage and Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2. Diesel is also involved with another money making franchise, The Fate of the Furious. The film which he produced too made $1.239 billion at the worldwide box office

Completing the top 5 is comedian Adam Sandler at No. 4, who made $50.5 million due to a profitable deal with streaming service Netflix. Jackie Chan made the top 5, with $49 million, he continues to make money in China.
Other actors in the top 10 were Robert Downey Jr who was the highest paid actor in 2015. He always makes money from his roles in the superhero franchise Avengers and also acted in the new Spiderman film. Tom Cruise is NO. 7 on the list with $43 million from films like The Mummy and Mission Impossible: 6.The list also includes three Bollywood actors Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar who made $38 million, $37 million and $35.5 million respectively.

New people on the list included Ryan Reynolds, Ryan Gosling, Jeremy Renner and Mark Ruffalo. Ruffalo and Renner banked big paychecks after their roles in Marvel’s action hero film franchise the Avengers.

Altogether the top 20 banked a combined $720 million between June 1, 2016, and June 1, 2017, before fees and taxes. Earnings estimates are based on information from Box Office Mojo, ComScore, Nielsen and IMDB. All the figures are pre tax.
